#FMM: Food Matters

It's that time of the week again and I decided to make ten minutes to sit down and right a post for FMM. I haven't got long since I have an essay due in next week and I am still in the prepping/drafting stages, but I love answering these questions created by Kenlie and I'll carve out some time later in the week where I read everyone else's posts!

Let's get a cracking lacking...

Food Matters

1. Are you familiar with GMO’s?  Is it an issue that matters to you?

I've heard about them before, but until this question came up to tell you the truth I had forgotten about them. Not intentionally my brain can just be a bit scatty. I try to eat the best I can on a daily and eat lots of fresh veggies and fruits. But I do know and I re-searched it to remind myself what they were. And even if you eat what you think is a healthy meal, snack, etc there are still hidden things and things unknown to "us" the consumer and so I think they should label everything and let us know what's what. Isn't that our right as the consumer? That way it is then our choice whether we decide to purchase something or not, based on all the information we have.

2.  List a few items that are typically on your grocery list

Bananas are always on my list, followed by milk and some kind of cereal.

3.  What is your favourite place to shop for produce?

I usually shop around and go to my local supermarkets, trying to price up before hand who's going to be the cheapest on what.

4. Do you eat processed foods?

Yes I do. Everything in moderation is what I believe.

5.  Do you look for the “organic” label when you shop?

No, to be honest, produce being organic or not really doesn't bother me, and after watching a documentary a few years ago on whether organic is really better on every single thing, it just really reaffirmed things for me. Although I prefer my eggs to be free ranged!

6. What did you eat for breakfast this morning?

I had some Wheaties with almond flakes and milk, with a banana and cup of tea of course. But my stomach really wasn't feeling food this morning!

7.  How many meals per week do you cook at home?

I cook nearly all my meals with my best friend. We are students and so batch cooking is the easiest and cheapest method for our meals!

8. Do you think that foods that have been genetically engineered should be labeled?

Definitely, that way we can all make a choice based around all the answers not some of them.

9. What matters most to you when you’re choosing a restaurant?

I usually just go with what I am fancying. I have no allergies that I know of and I am not on any special diet so I just eat wherever (within reason of course).

10.  What is your favourite meal to cook at home?

Something hearty like a Chilli or a Curry or a Spag Bol.

Thanks to Kenlie for hosting as always :-D

FMM # What If Edition

I am writing this post with lightening speed and if there are mistakes I apologise. I have to be at a hospital app in an hour or so and so I need to get dressed, ingest caffeine and drive there.

Here we go...

What If?

1.  If you had something in your teeth would you want someone to tell you, or would you prefer to figure it out on your own?

Tell me, Tell me, Tell me!

2.  If you had to listen to one song on repeat all day today, which song would you choose?

Well, since I am going to see The Arctic Monkeys on Thursday night I am going to pick one of their  songs - 'Mardy Bum'.

3.  If you could trade places with someone famous, with whom would you trade?

Hmm, it would have to be a singer so that I could be able to sing for the day, so I am going to choose, Beyonce?! Yeah, she'll do, haha.

4.  If you could speak another language fluently, which one would you speak?

I'd like to speak German better than I already do, but an entirely new language would have to be French or Italian.

5.  If you could read one person’s mind right now whose would you choose?

Haha...I am keeping that one a secret!

6. If you were forced to go back in time, which period of your life would you choose?

1920's just for the fashion!

7.  If you had to be trapped in a TV show for a month, which show would you choose?

Supernatural, I'd probably get killed off though, or not with the help of Sam and Dean. As I've been typing this I would be greedy (as always). I've decided that I'd spend half the month in Supernatural and half the month in Gilmore Girls.

8.  If you had to give up twitter or Facebook, which would you choose?

Twitter because I use Facebook to keep in contact with my family + the pictures!

9.  If you could have a present today, what would you want?

The gift of being completely healthy, no issues medically whatsoever and to eat as much as I wanted and whatever I wanted without getting sick and being in pain.

10.  If you had to choose between celebrating Halloween or Christmas, which would you choose?

Don't remotely like Halloween, so you all know where this is going because I absolutely adore Christmas. But I am looking forward to Bonfire night  (which will happen over the weekend here in the UK), Can't wait for the Fireworks :D

Thanks Kenlie for hosting, you're a star!

FMM: The This or That Edition

Hey Kenlie we have missed you on here too. I look forward to this link-up at the beginning of each week
:-D and reading your posts throughout the week. So don't ever feel like you're invisible! And losing 11.8 is amazing, don't ever undermine your efforts.

Happy FMM everyone :-D

This or That?

1. Meat and potatoes or pasta?
It usually depends on my mood, but I would normally always choose Pasta because there are so many options etc.

2. Do you prefer Apple or Android?
Android, I have a Samsung phone and although I have an ipod I have experienced some problems in the past with ipods.

3. Do you kiss and tell, or do you keep it private?
It depends... and I'll leave it at that.

4.  If you had to choose one, would you choose Facebook or Twitter?
Hmm... I use them both in different ways. I use Facebook for personal only and Twitter I use both for my blog and personal. But I am leaning more towards Facebook at the moment.

5. Christmas or Valentine’s Day?
Christmas all the way! I am already getting excited for it.

6. If you joined a band, would you prefer to do vocals or play an instrument?
Well since nobody should ever hear me sing for any serious reason, I will have to play an instrument.

7. Hot weather or cold weather?
Hot Weather all the way!

8.Calorie counting or tracking points?
Calorie counting for me please.

9.Yoga or kickboxing?
I like Yoga but I have never kickboxed so who knows?!

10. East Coast or West Coast?
Errm... since I don't live in America and I have never visited, I will just say where I prefer to go more (though I want to visit all over) - West Coast!

P.S - I've just realised that the text is different on answers 1,2 and 10 - I have no clue?!

Happy FMM guys, and thank you to Kenlie for hosting this shindig : D

Getting To Know Each Other

1. What is your favourite flower?
I have three and so I am going to be greedy, and name all of them! Sunflowers, Roses and Lillies.

2. What is a date on the calendar that you’re looking forward to?
Errm... I try to have something to look forward to each week. But a particular date that I am looking forward to in the near future is the 31st of October, which yes is Halloween but it is also the date of the next concert I am going too. ARCTIC MONKEYS... not that I can't wait or anything ha ha. It's actually good that it's on that date since I am not a Halloween fan at all. Put it this way I am already looking forward to Christmas, and already trying to ignore the sweeties with spiders on that seem to be popping up everywhere!

3. List at least five characteristics of your ideal ("soul") mate.
Although I hate the word 'soul', just leaving it mate sounded a little weird to me. Anyways here are my five things that sort of steer me to a potential boyfriend: Smile/Eyes/Masculine Build/Smartly Dressed and Funny (if you make me laugh and get my sense of humour, well done you! haha).

4. What is your favourite travel destination?
Spain is a nice one, just because it's easy to get to and the weather is usually nice and I could just never get bored there. But I want to tackle Italy soon!

5. What is your idea of the perfect date?
I don't know, but I definitely like to be swept off my feet. More thoughtful than money spent, that doesn't really impress me.

6. What is your relationship with your family like?
It's brilliant. We have our ups and downs like all families, but we are all more like friends than family.

7. What time did you wake up this morning?
For the first time since Paris back in June/July I got up before 9 am. In fact I got up at 7am! It nearly killed me, and at one point before my first coffee (Costa to the rescue) I was proper hysterical. Clearly, I am not ready for the 'real' world of work just yet!

8. What characteristic do you like most about yourself?  Which do you dislike most?
I like to think that I am a good listener, and someone who people can come to when they just need someone to talk to.
And what I dislike about myself is my anxiety, which is a pain sometimes and opposingly my impatience at most situations!

9. What is your favourite sport to watch?
Ooh that's a hard one because I like my sport, much to the annoyance of my mom! ha ha, well I am going to have to be greedy again and name a few again. 1.) Tennis 2.)Rugby 3.)Triathlon 4.)Athletics (Sadly the diamond league season has now come to an end :-( ) and of course swimming. Like I said I just like watching sport in general. Oh, and not to forget football...I promise no more haha.

10. Share a few interesting things that you did over the weekend.
I watched Jackie Brown, which I blogged and tweeted about, and I just chilled the rest of the weekend. Unfortunately I was exhausted and decided to just relax!

And that's that.

Questions and Answers

friend makin mondays

Thanks to Kenlie for Hosting :-D

1.  What is a typical weekday like for you?

At the moment I have to make up my own schedule, which for me isn't all that good. I am someone who likes a schedule and who likes to make plans. So, I am definitely both looking forward to my new Uni schedule when I go back in a few weeks. But a typical at Uni schedule for me is; go to mandatory classes, make appointments with lecturers, run errands and spend time with friends whilst managing my homework!

In a way I can't wait for next year, when I become an official adult thrust into the world of work, but on the other hand it is all happening so quick and I just know that I'll soon be graduating *scary thoughts*.

2.  Name one song that never fails to make you happy and one song that you always listen to when you’re sad.

Hmm... I seem to always smile when 'Bruises' by Train comes on. I love that song. And a song that I listen to when I am sad... strangely enough growing up it was either 'Eminem' or my favourite songs from 'Musicals'. I realise that that's a strange mixture.

3.  Did you watch the VMA’s last night?

No, but I usually catch award shows like that on repeat or catch up, because some bits never fail to make me cringe, especially the presenters.

4.  Share at least two that you possess.

I'm quite a good cook when I put the effort in! I just get lazy when it comes down to it, but I do hope to start "properly" cooking again and sharing the recipes and my attempts on this blog.
And a second one...I like to think I am good at sport. I have always been competitive and competed regularly at school.

5.  Share one thing that you wish you had the confidence to do.

Start a YouTube channel. I have really been considering this as another creative outlet lately!

6. Tell us about one insecurity that people might be surprised that you have.

Well... I am really insecure about talking in front of a group of people. Mainly because in my head I think they are judging me and laughing at me, but that's mainly my 'social anxiety' issues!

7.  If you could be the CEO of any company, which one would you choose to lead?

It would probably have to be either a publishing company, a magazine or a fashion company. Wow that took me no time to answer!

8. List at least three hobbies that make you happy.

*Running + Walking.
*Reading.
*Cooking/Baking.

9.  Is there someone in your life that you wish you could say “I love you” to?

Yes :-D

10.  Share one cool thing that happened over the weekend.

I spent some time hanging out and meeting new people, and nowadays I feel like that's something I can do that's actually very cool. Because a year ago that probably wouldn't have happened.

FMM #20

friend makin mondays

I haven't partaken in FMM for a while, but I really like the topic today so I am going to make time to write up this blog post :-D Thanks to our wonderful host, you should definitely go over and check out the questions and maybe even have a go at answering them yourself!

School Days

1.  What was your favourite subject in school?
I had quite a few to be honest (geek alert)! I think my favourite was P.E (sport), followed by German, English , Science and Maths :-D Told you I was a nerd!

2. Did you attend elementary school and high school in the same town?
Errm... I am english and so our school system works a little differently. But yes, other than changing primary school (5-11) when I was 7, my primary school and secondary school (11-16) were actually on the same stretch of road.

3. Are you still friends with anyone that you met during school?
Yep, my best friend I met at "high school", and I also keep in contact with some of my friends from primary, secondary but mainly "college" (16-18).

4. What activities were you involved in as a student?
Hmm.. like I said I liked my sport. So any time a sporting opportunity reared I signed up for it.

5. Did you bring your lunch, or did you get it at school?
I did both, depending on if my mom had any money to give me each day for my dinner in town. But I remember in primary that I went through a stage where I didn't like sandwiches and also wasn't keen on school dinners.

6. Did you enjoy shopping for clothing and school supplies?
I did and still do. I need to go shopping for new supplies at the end of summer for my last year of university. #excitedmuch.

7. Name a song or a band that reminds you of high school.
Hmm... not sure I had a main favourite. But it is definitely the time I started becoming really into the band "The Arctic Monkeys", and I finally have tickets and am going to their gig on Halloween this year, which both me and my sister are super excited for!

8. Did you like school?
I definitely did, and as I approach the final year of my education for the forseeable future it does sadden me. I have spent the last 15 years learning and it will be hard (though wonderful) to not be learning and studying next year.

9. How long have you been out of school? *See Q) 8.

10. What did you like most about school?  What did you dislike most about school?
Most Liked: Friends, the routine, playing sports. Most disliked: "The Cliques" (I wasn't really part of a group and so floated between many kinds of friends), remembering Homework (I was seriously terrible!).

Let's Talk About T.V

friend makin mondays
Thanks to Kenlie for being our host :-D
Happy FMM

1.Share your current “Must-See” TV shows.

This one isn't as easy as it first seemed, but with that said at the moment I am really enjoying watching the new season of 'Supernatural' and a new favourite is probably 'In Plain Sight'. See a lot of my shows have just finished like 'Bones', 'Criminal Minds' and 'Mad Dogs'. I guess it's just that time of year, so a lot of my faves aren't on t.v.

We must now recount our every emotion about the show. Hilighting the good ones as bet we can.
There are so many of these for Supernatural. I love reading them all!

LAST DAY OF IN PLAIN SIGHT! Last day of the show, of the season and of being in Albuquerque!

2.Do you prefer reality shows or sitcoms?

I'd say I watch both but I probably lean to sitcoms more than I do reality t.v.

3.Who is your favourite talk show host?

To be honest I don't watch that many talk shows, if at all. But sometimes I catch Ellen and also really like Chelsea Lately, she is probably my fave!

4.Which network(s) do you turn to for news?
You know what my shows are scattered all over the place and I really don't watch from a dominant channel. Although the sky channels are watched more frequently when I am away at Uni and have limited access for television.

5.Do you have Tivo or DVR?  If so, which programs do you have set to record?
We have a Sky+ box which basically means to everyone living outside the U.K that I can record my shows like you can on Tivo etc. But we basically have everything set to record now. We never used to mind until we got a Sky + box, but adverts now drive us up a wall and we have much more fun skipping them. So watching everything on record gives us that freedom.

Plus that way you don't miss anything either, or forget it's on etc!

6.Have you ever started watching a show simply because you heard so much about it on social media?

Errm not really. I just tend to see the advertisements and say I'll give that a go sometime or when it's out.

7.List any TV series that you own on DVD.
-Gilmore Girls (My all time favourite).
-A few series of One Tree  Hill.
-A few series of Ghost Whisperer (I still need to get the last two I think).
and sad but true...
-Laguna Beach - The Real O. C (I used to be obsessed when I was a kid).

8. Do you have a subscription to Netflix, Hulu, etc?

I don't at the moment but for my last year of Uni I am considering it!

9.If you could star in a TV show that already exists, which one would you choose?

Definitely Supernatural! I mean who wouldn't want to star across from them two guys.

10.If you could bring back one TV show that is no longer on the air, which one would you choose?

No doubt in my mind it would have to be, Gilmore Girls!

Does anybody else have a love for Supernatural?

Has anybody read the Chelsea Lately Books? I am thinking about trying them out.

Thanks to Kenlie for hosting :-D

Foodie Questions:

1.  Do you make grocery lists?
I try to when I am at University, otherwise I just grab, which is never good. But since I am currently at home, even though I add to the shopping what I want to, so does everybody else. But I think my mom occasionally writes a list so she doesn't forget the necessities :D

2. Do you have a routine when shopping in your favourite grocery store?
We usually just start at one end (where you walk in) and then make our way up to the other end. Unless we are only running in for top ups or bits and bobs.

3. What is your favourite seasoning?
Probably Cajun or any Hot and Spicy seasoning, I like to season my meat.

4. What is the healthiest food in your fridge right now?
Errm probably all the fruit!

5. What is the most unhealthy food in your fridge now?
Probably a left over Cadbury Pudding of my brothers that has been in there for weeks.

6. What is the most exotic produce you've ever had?
I think it's called a Sharon Fruit. I remember when I was ten and in school it was testing out new fruit and veg week, and that's one of them they made us try. I wasn't  a fan back then, maybe I'll give it another try soon :D

7. Tell us about your favourite local restaurant.
Lately, it would probably just have to be Nandos. My "favourites" switch around all the time, and my recent favourite restaurant is Nandos as I have been going there the most with family and friends.

8.What kind of pasta do you prefer (regular, whole wheat, etc.?)
I do prefer eating whole wheat in general, it has just become a preference over the years and I can now taste a huge difference when I have regular. Just like with bread. But since I have been back I actually haven't been eating much pasta. I guess I filled up on it in the last two weeks of student life for the academic year. But I was thinking I could do with getting some, I just keep forgetting everytime we are in the Supermarket and remembering afterwards. But to be honest I have been eating a lot of bread and potatoes with my main meals, so maybe it's time to shake things up a bit.

9. If you could make one food calorie-free for an entire week, which food would you choose?
For me I would rather have things be lower in carbs as I eat a lot, but if I had to choose something to be calorie free it would definitely be alcohol and cheese.

10.If you had to choose would you rather give up french fries or chocolate?
I don't really eat french fries or any kind of chips for that matter, so it would be easier to give up that as I already don't eat it.

Happy FMM :-D

Thanks to Kenlie for playing host :-D

Easy Questions

1. Are you a planner, or do you prefer to see where the moment takes you?

Like I've been saying in previous posts, I am trying to become more spontaneous and not be afraid to let the moment take me, but on the other hand I will always be a true planner at heart. I guess I just like knowing where I am going and when.

2. How often do you blog?

If I can blog everyday I will, but during term times I am usually so busy it's probably more like 3 days a week. But summer gives me the freedom to post regularly about anything I want for any length, so I am definitely liking that kind of freedom summer has brought.

3. Do you colour your hair?

Ha ha, this question is like fate. I am actually getting my hair dyed today, ombred in fact and it's my first time getting my hair dyed. I've had my hair chemically straightened since I was 14 years old, so even though I had that done last Monday I fancy another change with my hair.

4.If you had to choose between running or riding a bike, which one would you choose?

Running for sure as it's what I normally love to do, but I don't think I have biked in a decade. But I was just saying last week to my best friend that I wouldn't mind starting again :-D

5. Have you ever travelled outside of your home country?

Yep, there's nothing better :-D

6. Do you like weddings?

I guess, who knows?!

7. What is your favourite guilty pleasure on TV?

It would probably be 'Keeping Up With The Kardashians', it's definitely a guilty pleasure!

8. Are you good at math(s)?

I'd like to think I still have it, but I'm an English Literature student at heart.

9. What is the last movie you watched?

I went to the cinema on Wednesday to see 'Now You See Me'. I thought it was great and I would definitely watch it again.

10. Share five adjectives that your friends would use to describe you.

Not sure, you'd have to ask them :-D

Bonus:  Did you celebrate Independence Day?  If so, what did you do?

No I am English and I live in England, so it was just another day but if I was ever over in America on the fourth of July I'd love to take part in the festivities!
